Happy Ramadan!

Tomorrow is the first day of Ramadan, for us muslims around the world. We follow a lunar calendar which allows us to push Ramadan back ten days every year according to the moon. So this year and for a few years to come it will be in the summer months. We can’t eat or drink liquid during daylight hours, so waking up in the middle of the night to eat up is key. Of course children under 7, elderly, pregnant woman or anyone with health issues that are unable to do this are exempt. We do this to feel how poor people feel like, appreciate what we have and regain control were we may have become gluttonous during the year. My kids are to young to really participate but its good to start traditions early.
We made this chart today to track our progress over the next month. The blue hands are Toot’s and Lelo’s! The are a superstitious decorative piece I added. The blue is to protect from the evil eye.
