Gf Homemade ornaments

I love making things, especially if they aren’t too terribly difficult and can last a long time. I really wanted my children to make ornaments. There’s nothing like looking at the tree and remembering how you got each ornament.

I hope you enjoy this recipe like we have!

1 cup salt

1 cup cornstarch

3/4 cup water

Mix together in a pot on medium heat until all ingredients are blended and turn into a ball of dough. This shouldn’t take too long but be patient.

Once dough has formed, turn off stove and dump out on table or flat surface. Give it a few minutes to cool, than kneed into a ball.

Using a rolling pin, roll out dough into a flat 1/4 inch surface. Cut out shapes. We used cookie cutters, or use your imagination.

If dough dries, add a little water and kneed into a ball.

Use a straw to poke a hole for the string to go into.

Bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours. flipping over half way. If your ornaments are thicker they may need more cooking time.

Paint, and mod podge, several coats to seal for years of hanging fun.

Enjoy!
